Day 1 – I’ve never been so happy to see the T-Bum and Melissio in the Huston airport. After a chaotic arrival in Belize City, we boarded our little puddle jumper to Caye Caulker. Upon arrival, I knew this was paradise. Layed back would be an understatement for Belize life. Golf carts and bikes are the vehicles on this island, and large sandy pathways serve as the streets. We checked into our hostel to discover there were no beds left. We were a little worried about being homeless, but decided to drop our bags and went for a tasty seafood dinner and had a tour of the main ‘street’ from a local. We returned to the hostel to set up camp in the hammocks in front of the hostel. We felt surprisingly safe, and swaying under some palm trees on the beach next to the ocean and not to mention some random dogs sleeping under us, it wasn’t so bad. It was not so bad until a monsoon hit us. After trying to stick out the rain, we heard people from inside the hostel yelling at us to come inside. We were the crazy Canadians from day one. This was definitely the beginning of an adventure.
