This weekend was a festival weekend in PG as it was the annual ‘Village Days’. PG came alive with buses coming in from the surrounding villages. We took in local traditional dances, foods, and wandered around the booths set up. Trisha and I played in a women’s 4-on-4 volleyball tournament and ended up winning both of our games. We were definitely out of our comfort zone being the minorities, but I think that was something important for us to experience. We both had fun playing and T-Bum definitely had some wicked hits. We spent the rest of the afternoon lounging by the pool where my parents are staying. Melissa, Trisha, and I went out to the local dance with live Punta Rock, although my dancing skills don’t seem to be improving. We were up bright and early Sunday morning and caught the bus and then the ferry to Placencia. We spent the day relaxing on the beach and soaking up the sun. We found a great place on the beach that served some of the best food we have had here and made fresh fruit smoothies. It was a tease to go for the day, but we plan on returning one weekend soon.
